Renowned Corporate lawyer 20 others bag SAN

An Imo born lawyer in the person of Barrister Uche V. Obi is among the 21 solicitors that have been penned down to be conferred with the prestigious Senior Advocate Of Nigeria rank by the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee as announced on Friday.

Barr Uche V. Obi is an Umuozu in Nwangele born solicitor, leading lawyer and managing partner at Alliance Law Firm whose practice areas include; banking, capital markets, project development, project finance and a host of other specialties that cut across several industry sectors like, Energy, natural resources, oil and gas and social infrastructure.
The successful lawyers to join Barr Obi include, National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Muiz Banire, Dr. Oladapo Olanipekun, who is a son of a former President of Nigeria Bar Association, Chief Wole Olanipekun, and Emeka Etiaba, a son of former Anambra Deputy Governor, Dame Virgy Etiaba.
Also listed for the rank were Legal Services of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Ibrahim Bawa: Edward Ashiekaa, Benson Nwankwo, Joseph Bamigboye, Patrick Okolo, Prof. Maxwell Gidado, Dr. Tahir Mamman, and Dr. Akinpelu Onigbinde.
Others were Samuel Zibiri, Adeniyi Adegbonmire, Aderibigbe Adedeji,Emmanuel Aguma, Abimbola Akeredolu, Olumuyiwa Akinboro, Gordy Uche, Kehinde Eleja and Prof. Paul Idornigie.
The only female, Akeredolu, was one of the 3 females that applied for the rank in a total of 124 applicants that applied for the rank in January.
Secretary to the LPPC, Ahmed Saleh while briefing journalists, said 124 applicants applied for the rank.
Saleh stated that 21 lawyers would be sworn in on September 21 at a special court session marking the begging of the 2015/2016 legal year.

The new SANs will join 408 lawyers both living and dead who had been conferred with the rank since its inception in 1975.
