Rochas Launches TAXIMO, Honours Four Women With Vehicles

The Imo State Government on Wednesday, 30th August, 2017 launched a new intracity taxi scheme, TAXIMO

At the Launch the Governor announced the ban of tricycles (Keke) stating that they can only operate from a fifteen kilometer radius off the capital city, Owerri, as a result of the ongoing Urban Renewal Program.

Prior to the open balloting for the initial beneficiaries numbering about 300, Gov Rochas Okorocha requested that four women be exempted and instead, announced the donation of the newly branded TAXIMO to them.

Recall, Governor Okorocha announced the ban in 2015 and has procured over 2000 branded taxis for the scheme which were rejected by keke operators because they could not afford to buy them.
