NGO Protests Against Indiscriminate Siting of Fuel and Gas Stations in Imo

An NGO, Genius Eyes Internationally Foundation For The Hopeless, on Tuesday, 4th December, 2017, led by popular humanitarian, Mr Paulcy Iwuala, protested the indiscriminate erection of gas plants and fuel stations in residential areas in Owerri.

According to the NGO they believe in the values of life which is why they took to the streets of Owerri, the Imo state capital to protest against the gruesome issuing of operation licence to gas plant operators within residential proximities.

It is no news that in owerri, fuel stations are juxtaposed with residential buildings which is a threat to our lives, should there be a fire out break the city would be razed to dust in a twinkle talk more of gas plants and it's effect when there is a similar out break.

The NGO took its protest to the Department of Petroleum Resource (DPR) Owerri zonal office to demand answers as to why these callous license's are issued, but the controller played to the gallery to the questions asked.

Mr Paulcy, leader of the protest, stated that they left the DPR with a mandate to revoke licence of operators operating within residential proximity or face a bigger protest.

This protest arose from the recent explosion from a gas plant which saw several lives lost and many wounded including multiple property destruction.
